Transformer

Transformer is a part that works only with AC current. We can use it to either increase or decrease electricity. There are many types of transformers, like power transformers, output transformers, RF and IF transformers etc. Transformers are usually made with warping coils on two separate sections with an iron or ferrite core.

These two sections are called primary coil and secondary coils. These coils are wrapped in two cores around an iron or ferrite core. As a result, if the primary coil connects to the electricity due to the magnetic effect, it will also go to the secondary coil. The output voltage or current depends on coil wire size, its turn amount etc.

Power transformers are two types,

Step up – this type is made with low turns of a thick coil with a primary and high turns with a thin coil with a secondary, so it can increase output voltage(V), but give less current(A).

Step down – this type makes with low turns of a thick coil with a primary and high turns with a thin coil with a secondary so it can decrease output voltage(V), but give more current(A).

Transformers types – there are several types of transformers.

E.G. – Power transformers, Audio transformers, RF transformers, IF transformers, switching transformers, chopper transformers etc.

Transformer cores –

Normally, an iron core is used for low-frequency transformers, like main transformer, audio transformer etc.

Ferrite core is used for high-frequency transformers, like fly back transformers, radio RF or if transformers, switching transformers etc.
